Military Court Extends Detention of Dr. Dima Amin Until Tomorrow, Tuesday

Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association learned through Dr. Dima Amin’s lawyer that her detention has been extended for interrogation purposes until tomorrow, Tuesday.

Israeli occupation forces arrested Dr. Amin on 18 August 2026, following a nighttime raid on her home, during which her hands were tightly restrained with plastic restraints and she was blindfolded. During her transfer, she suffered a health emergency that required her to be transferred to hospital, where she underwent a number of medical examinations, including a catheterization procedure, before being returned to interrogation once her health condition had stabilized.

On 20 August 2026, the Ofer Military Court extended Dr. Amin’s detention for five days for interrogation, based on allegations related to incitement through social media. Today, her detention was extended again for one day, until tomorrow, Tuesday, in order to complete the interrogation.

Following her detention at the Moscobiya detention and interrogation center, specifically on 21 August 2026, Dr. Amin was transferred to solitary confinement in a cell without windows, under extremely poor detention and sanitary conditions. At the beginning of her detention, the cell did not even contain a mattress, which was provided only later. The cell contains an Arabic-style toilet without access to water. She is also prohibited from keeping her prescription glasses inside the cell. Dr. Amin has not been permitted to change her clothes and has no additional clothing, forcing her to wash the only clothes she has and wear them while they are still wet.

Dr. Amin is also subjected to severe restrictions on access to drinking water. She is provided with water in a cup, which is taken away immediately after she finishes drinking, preventing her from keeping water inside her cell. On 23 August 2026, she was removed from the solitary confinement room and transferred to the regular cells at the Moscobiya detention center.

Dr. Dima Amin is a doctor specializing in obstetrics and gynecology and a healthcare worker. Her detention takes place within the broader context of the systematic targeting and detention of Palestinian healthcare workers by the Israeli occupation authorities. She is one of dozens of Palestinian doctors and healthcare workers currently detained or recently detained by the occupation authorities, as part of the targeting of the Palestinian healthcare system and the right to health.

The continued detention of Palestinians on allegations of “incitement” based on their social media activity imposes arbitrary restrictions and constitutes a violation of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, particularly amid the Israeli occupation authorities’ use of broad allegations or expansive interpretations of the concept of “incitement” to criminalize Palestinian speech.

Addameer calls for the immediate release of Dr. Dima Amin and demands that she be guaranteed immediate and unrestricted access to the specialized medical care required by her condition, as well as adequate food, water, clothing, personal hygiene supplies, and appropriate living conditions, in accordance with international standards for the treatment of detainees. Addameer further calls for an end to the use of solitary confinement and harsh detention conditions as a means of punishment or pressure during interrogation.

Addameer stresses the need to respect Dr. Amin’s right, as well as the right of all Palestinians, to freedom of opinion and expression, and to cease criminalizing the exercise of this right through vague or overly broad allegations of incitement. We also call on relevant international human rights and health bodies, particularly the United Nations Special Rapporteurs on the right to health, freedom of opinion and expression, arbitrary detention, and human rights defenders, to follow up on Dr. Amin’s case and intervene urgently to ensure her physical and psychological safety and safeguard her fundamental rights.
